Heart Starting Defibrillator / AED Located in Smalley

Smalley Richardson Endowed Primary School have successfully secured funding from the Lodge House Community Fund to install a defibrillator / AED for community access on an external school wall.

Location of Defibrillator

To access the Defibrillator in an emergency: Dial 999, give details of your casualty, give your location and you will be given an access code for the yellow cabinet keypad lock. The 999 call team will guide you through your conversation. The AED gives vocal prompts for use and written instruction, with pictures are also in the yellow DefibSafe cabinet.

For every minute that passes without early CPR and defibrillation, there is a 10% drop in the chances of survival. Current UK NHS Ambulances are targeted to reach people suffering a cardiac arrest within 8 minutes, nevertheless they maybe delays. A person’s heart can only be restarted by defibrillation. The sooner CPR and an AED is used, the more effective trained medical staff can be when they arrive.

Although the iPAD Defibrillator can be used by anyone and official training is not required,
